Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer and songwriter for several years. Her mother raised her in the USA and she was subject to many racial taunts that made her feel like someone who was not wanted. After she participated in a school competition and received great praise for her performance when she was in the ninth grade the young girl started to grow more confident. It not only boosted her confidence but also shifted her career ambition. She attended the New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. When she was 23, she made her first appearance on Broadway in Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films featuring You've Got Mail. Her biggest breakthrough was when she played the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway show Spamalot receiving not just her the Tony Award for her performance but also great critical acclaim. In the year following, she appeared on the ABC show Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider recognition for it. She is known as a performer and has also released a single as well as an extended play. She is also an activist and works extensively in the field of LGBT rights.
